Interior Garden
In shifting focus from the visible to the invisible natural world, the Interior Garden space highlights biologically inspired forms in various design elements, such as fabrics and light fixtures, as a reminder of the importance of conserving natural systems, and to further deepen our appreciation of and relationship with the environment. Walls and ceiling feature hand-troweled plaster mixed with straw, for a natural texture. The sustainably-produced cork flooring pattern mimics leaf cell structure. The casual sofa, chairs, pillows and draperies feature custom dyed, printed and embroidered hemp fabrics, inspired by spores, mycelium and other microscopic natural imagery. Wall art depicts California Lichen and other representations of flora. A multi-screen art installation brings the outside inside with engaging images of the natural world.
